Second edition of the urban signs contest ArhitechSIGN will be held during March-April 2009. The project is proposing to underline the importance of urban signs, placed in locations with different characters (square, pedestrian passage or corridor, sidewalk, etc). The contest’s theme,, represents the attempt to recapture the purports of these locations and to reclaim the value of the different urban spaces of actual Bucharest city.
The contest pursue, since the beginning, to generate valuable ideas of urban signs with potential to become landmarks in a city needy in such elements. It is a Corporate Social Responsibility program which gather projects dedicated to Bucharest City and its inhabitants. The main objective is to generate awareness about the necessity of such urban signs, both with functional and aesthetic role.
2009 edition of the contest is developing at national level and managed to involve prestigious partners like Architecture and Urbanism University “Ion Mincu†(AUUIM), Igloo Media, Municipal County and City Hall of District 1.
The jury is formed by well-known specialists in architecture: Arch. Serban Sturza - OAR President, Arch. Dan Marin - OAR Bucharest Vice-president, Arch. Iulia Stanciu - Conf. Dr. AUUIM, Arch. Bruno Andresoiu - Igloo Media General Manager, Arch. Dorin Stefan Adam - Lecturer Drd. UAUIM and Ana-Maria Ionescu - Board Member of Eltrix company. Special guest in jury is Arch. Gheorghe Patrascu - Chief Architect of Bucharest Municipal County.
The best works registered in ArhitechSIGN contest will be exhibited at Architecture Annual Event held at Bucharest in May.
